Panda Playgroup Olympics

Olympic fever was in full force at the University of Connecticut this spring!

Members of the UConn China Care Club invited its Panda Playgroup (and their parents too!) to participate in an Olympics-themed day.

Cooperation and teamwork were a must to succeed at the hula hoop and dress-up relay games. At the end of the friendly competition, each child was crowned with a handmade laurel they designed themselves. The event was a smashing success and was followed by a celebratory pasta potluck party.

UConn China Care is one of the over 50 student clubs that support Half the Sky’s work. Their Panda Playgroup connects children adopted from China with Asian student mentors.

The Playgroup has more than doubled in size in the last year thanks to the UConn China Care Club’s creative, interactive events that include lion dancing, dim sum tasting, dragon tail-chasing as well as the year’s biggest hit, the Olympics.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers at the University of Connecticut for helping train our future Olympic champions!
